The LOVE of money

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

Another version has it as:

For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

What is being taught is loving money leads to many evil things. One of these would be hunger.

According to the following report, the rise in the price of food is partly due to hoarding and...the love of money.

..."Giant agribusinesses are enjoying soaring earnings and profits out of the world food crisis which is driving millions of people towards starvation, The Independent on Sunday can reveal. And speculation is helping to drive the prices of basic foodstuffs out of the reach of the hungry."

When money is first in someone's life, they don't care about much of anything. The Bible teaches us to "flee these things". To not flee is to break the commandment not to covet.

Money is OK even if you have a lot of it, but the LOVE of money is evil.
