Joe Donahue says he finds people sometimes treat Jesus more like a mascot than the Savior, resulting in what he describes as an "unhealthy love" for Jesus.
"Jesus is treated by the church in the same way we would treat a genie," says Donahue. "We keep Jesus in the pocket of our T-shirt or the pocket of our clothes, and we pull him out when times are tough and we stick him back in when things are going well."
